Shell reference
Shell defines a thin wall solid.
Design > Solid > Modify > Shell
Type
- Sharp Offset: Creates sharp offset corners.
- Rounded Offset: Creates rounded offset corners.
Faces/Body
Select a body to shell or faces to remove to form an opening.
Tangent Chain
Check to automatically include tangentially connected faces, or select individual faces to remove.
Inside Thickness
Specifies the wall thickness inside the solid.
Outside Thickness
Specifies the wall thickness outside the solid.
Direction
Select the direction for the wall thickness.
- Inside: Offsets the faces toward the inside of the solid.
- Outside: Offsets the faces toward the outside of the solid.
- Both: Offsets the faces toward the inside and the outside of the solid. You can specify different values for the offsets.
Tips
- Use Rounded Offset type to shell complex geometry and create a full or partial outcome, then use surface tools to modify the geometry.
- Select the body in the browser to create a hollow body without removing faces.
