Select objects by boundary

Learn how to select objects that are located inside or outside a 3D boundary in Fusion.

  1. On the toolbar, click Select > Selection Tools > Select By Boundary select by boundary icon.

    The Select By Boundary dialog displays.

  2. In the canvas, select a solid or surface body to use to define the Centroid.

  3. In the dialog, select a Boundary Shape:

    • Box
    • Cylinder
    • Sphere
  4. Select a Selection Type:

    • Inside Boundary: Selects objects inside the boundary.
    • Outside Boundary: Selects objects outside the boundary.
  5. Optional: Check Intersected to select objects that are location partially inside the boundary.

  6. Use the manipulator handles in the canvas to adjust the Boundary Size, or specify exact values in the dialog:

    • Box: X-Axis, Y-Axis, Z-Axis
    • Cylinder: X-Axis, Radius
    • Sphere: Radius

    The objects inside or outside the boundary highlight in the canvas and Browser.

  7. Click OK.

The objects are selected in the canvas and the Browser.
