Extend a surface body
Use the Extend command to make a surface larger in Fusion.
Click Design > Surface > Modify > Extend .
The Extend dialog displays.
Select the edges on the surface body to extend.
On the Feature tab in the Extend dialog, select the Extend Type, and adjust its associated settings:
- Natural: Extends existing face.
- Select an Edge Alignment setting:
- Free Edges: Applies G0 point continuity.
- Align Edges: Applies G1 tangent continuity.
- Perpendicular: Creates new faces perpendicular to the existing face.
- Tangent: Creates new flat faces tangent to the existing face.
Drag the Distance manipulator handle to extend the surface, or specify an exact value in the dialog.
Optional: On the Analysis tab, select an Analysis Type to analyze the previewed result in context:
- None: Displays no analysis.
- Zebra: Displays alternating black and white stripes on a body to help you analyze surface curvature.
- Curvature Map: Displays a color gradient on a body to help you analyze areas of high and low surface curvature.
- Isocurve Analysis: Applies UV mapping and curvature combs to help you analyze the quality of the surface curvature.
Click OK to finish.
The extended surface body displays in the canvas.
Tips
- You can extend edges through another shape and then remove the excess with the Trim command.
- If you uncheck Enable Chaining, you can select a single edge without selecting its adjacent edges.
