Insert an edge into a T-Spline body

Learn how to use the Insert Edge command to add an edge to a T-Spline body by offsetting existing edges in Fusion.

insert edge example

To insert an edge on a T-Spline body, highlight an edge or loop and edit a value for the location of the new edge.

There are two options for displaying the surface:

The Insertion Side option specifies whether the command inserts a new edge on one side or new edges on both sides of the original edge.

You can insert edges into partial and complete face loops, edge rings, and edge loops.

  1. In the Design workspace, Form contextual environment, select Modify > Insert Edge insert edge icon.

  2. Select the edge or loop to edit.

A green line indicates the new edge.

  3. Drag the manipulator or enter a value to position the edge.

The value is in ratios of 1, with 1 being the distance between the selected edge and the neighboring edge. Negative values place the new edge on the opposite side of the edge.

  4. Select Single or Both from the Insertion Side drop-down to specify one edge or two edges.

  5. To create a whole loop from the edge, double-click the edge.

  6. To maintain the surface shape, in the Insertion Mode drop-down, select Exact.
