Alternative result visualizations
Some results in the online viewer provide alternative visualization modes that let you view the same data in different ways. These visualizations help you focus on specific aspects of your analysis or interpret results more effectively.
Results with alternative visualizations
For these results, use the dropdown menu next to the result name above the legend.
Electronics Cooling:
- Air Velocity: Switch between Flow Lines (streamlines) and Air Flow (directional vectors)
Injection Molding:
- Fill animation: Switch between Plastic Flow and Fill Time visualizations
- Warpage tolerance: Switch between Warpage and Flatness visualizations
- Sink mark depth: Switch between Threshold, Estimate, and Visualization modes
Changed via Result Settings
For these results, use the Result Visualization setting in the Result Settings panel.
Static Stress:
- Safety Factor: Switch between Traffic Light Plot (full distribution), Below Target (critical areas only), and Above Target (over-engineered areas only)
How visualizations work
Alternative visualizations display the same underlying result data using different visual representations:
- Different perspectives: Each visualization emphasizes different aspects of the data
- Same result: You stay on the same result; only the display method changes
- Real-time switching: Changes appear immediately in the canvas
- Independent from Result Settings: Dropdown visualizations are separate from other result settings like colors or threshold sliders
When to use alternative visualizations
Use alternative visualizations when you need to:
- Focus on specific aspects of your results (critical areas, over-engineered regions)
- Compare different interpretations of the same data
- Communicate results to different audiences (technical vs. management)
- Verify findings using different visual representations
- Optimize designs by identifying specific problem areas or opportunities
