Apply a prescribed rotation constraint

These steps assume you are setting up an Event Simulation study in the Simulation workspace.

  1. Click prescribed rotation icon (Simulation workspace > Setup tab > Constraints panel > Prescribed Rotation) to open the Prescribed Rotation dialog.

  2. Select at least one Rigid Body in the canvas.

Note: You can only apply a single prescribed rotation to a given rigid body. If you apply a second prescribed rotation to the same rigid body, you will see a warning in precheck icon Pre-Check.
  3. Choose a Constraint Type from the drop-down menu:

    • Angle - Rotates the selected object type.

Note: Angle is the only option for Quasi-static analyses.
    • Rotational Velocity - Applies a constant rotational velocity and direction to the selected object.

    • Rotational Acceleration - Applies an angular acceleration to the selected object.

  4. Select one of the Components.

  5. Input the Magnitude of the constraint.

  6. Click the multiplier curve icon Multiplier Curve icon to supply a transient based prescribed rotation. This enables you to adjust the constraint as the analysis progresses.
