Calculate Rehab Costs Using Rehab Length

Use rehab length to estimate sewer pipe rehabilitation costs with greater precision. Instead of applying a unit cost to the entire pipe, Info360 Asset calculates the actual repair quantity from CCTV defect locations.

Note: To use this feature, you must purchase the Advanced subscription. For more information, see About Info360 Asset subscription levels.

This approach helps asset managers estimate repair costs, compare rehabilitation options, and prioritize capital investments across the network.

Use calculated rehab length when you need to:

How rehab length cost calculation works

When a rehab action uses calculated rehab length, Info360 Asset:

  1. Identifies the defects on each pipe that match the configured defect types.
  2. Creates rehab segments around those defects using the configured trench buffer.
  3. Merges nearby rehab segments using the configured merge buffer.
  4. Calculates the total rehab length.
  5. Multiplies the rehab length by the unit cost.

The total cost is calculated as:

Total cost = Unit cost × Quantity

The quantity can be either:

For example, if the unit cost is $150 per foot and the calculated rehab length is 48 feet, the total repair cost is:

$150 × 48 = $7,200

Configure cost tables

Use cost tables to define unit costs for rehabilitation actions such as repair, replace, or reline.

Unit costs can vary by asset group. For example:

Asset group Unit cost
PVC less than 16 in $120 per foot
PVC 16–36 in $150 per foot

Configure rehab actions

For each rehab action, define the cost source and calculation method.

You can choose:

You can also choose how the cost is applied:

When you select Calculated rehab length, configure the following settings:

Setting Description
Defect types The CCTV defect types to include in the repair quantity calculation.
Trench buffer The excavation distance added around each defect.
Merge buffer The distance threshold used to combine nearby rehab segments.

Run the decision tree

After you configure cost tables and rehab actions, run the decision tree.

If the recommended action uses calculated rehab length, Info360 Asset calculates the repair quantity from matching defect locations and uses that quantity to calculate the total cost.

Review rehab results

Review the results in the rehab table. The table shows the recommended action and cost details, including:

For transparency, you can review how Info360 Asset calculated the rehab length from defect locations.

Example

A pipe has CCTV defects that qualify for repair. The repair action uses a cost table with a unit cost of $150 per foot and uses calculated rehab length as the quantity.

Info360 Asset identifies the matching defects, creates rehab segments, merges nearby segments, and calculates a total rehab length of 48 feet.

The total repair cost is:

$150 per foot × 48 feet = $7,200
