Define Cross Section

Allows Saving, Loading, and Editing of Custom Cross Sections. These cross sections are used in the Chamber and Custom Connection.

Coordinates can be input by hand, or by copying and pasting from your preferred spreadsheet program. They can also be loaded from a previously saved file, or from a range of standard formats such as CSV using the Open File option in the toolbar.

Validation

Input coordinates will be validated on leaving the form. Please ensure all coordinate sets obey the following rules:

Finally, the input shape must be closed for Chamber's which is set automatically. However Custom Connection may be open or closed depending on the checkbox.

Toolbar

Remove Coordinate

Removes the selected row from the coordinates table and the corresponding point in the cross section preview.

Clear All

Removes all data from the coordinates table and the cross section preview.

Open File

Opens files saved with the .XPCHX file extension and displays the corresponding coordinates table and cross section preview. Most other standard text and spreadsheet formats can also be loaded; this will use the Universal Importer.

Save File

Saves the current coordinates table and cross section preview as a file with the .XPCHX file extension

Open Cross Section

An open Cross Section works differently to the closed as it has to match the rules of a Channel whilst still being "Custom ". To fit this criteria the Cross Section preview changes to show the Cover Elevation (denoted by the green line) and will automatically expand the Cross Section to reach this Cover Elevation (where the shape has been expanded is shown by the dotted lines). In the toolbar, under the OK button, there is Expanded Height which shows the Height that will be taken when analyzing. This Expanded Height is calculated based on the size of the Cross Section + Height to reach Cover Elevation.
