To publish civil structures to Civil 3D

Warning: If your InfraWorks model uses a geographic or arbitrary coordinate system such as LL84 or XY-M, you may need to re-create the InfraWorks model and assign a projected coordinate system to the model during creation, before you can publish a civil structure to Autodesk Civil 3D. Once you've re-created your model, repeat this procedure with the new model.

Use the Publish Civil Structures command to send your bridge or tunnel models to Autodesk Civil 3D or Autodesk Revit.

Note: For information on publishing civil structures to Autodesk Revit, see To Publish Civil Structures to Autodesk Revit.
  1. In InfraWorks, select a civil structure such as a bridge or tunnel.
  2. Right-click.
  3. Expand the Publish Civil Structures menu options, and choose Create New.
  4. Open Autodesk Civil 3D.
  5. Click Insert tab glyph InfraWorks panel glyph Infraworks glyph Open InfraWorks Model.
  6. Follow the instructions in the Civil 3D help to complete this procedure in Autodesk Civil 3D. See To bring Autodesk InfraWorks Data into Civil 3D.

To update the Civil 3D drawing with modifications from InfraWorks

If you make modifications to the civil structures dataset in InfraWorks, you can send those updates to Civil 3D using the Publish Civil Structures glyph Update Existing command, where you can reload the civil structure dataset into the Civil 3D drawing.

Note: If an IMX dataset that is used in the current drawing is republished from InfraWorks using the Publish Civil Structures glyph Update Existing command, a notification message is displayed at the status bar in Civil 3D that referenced data has changed.

See To Manage InfraWorks Bridge Datasets in the Current Drawing for more information.
