What's New in Autodesk Navigation 2014

This page lists the new features introduced in the 2014 release.

Spline-based path following

The path following system can now direct Bots along curved trajectories that follow splines.

When using this system, after the initial path through the NavData is found, a channel is computed that demarcates the open space in the immediate vicinity of the path.

Within the bounds of this channel, and subject to the constraints of a locomotion model that you define, the path following system computes a series of splines that remain within the channel but make use of the open space surrounding the initial path.

Collision testing

This release introduces a lightweight system for conducting collision tests against the geometry of the game world, suitable for conducting raycasts, visibility tests, line of fire checks, etc.

For details, see Using the Collision System.

Bug fixes
