Item actions

There are various actions you can perform on your BOM items. All item actions are available in the more actions menu .

Requirements

• You must be added to the project team.
• You must hold a Professional license to see the full list of actions you can perform. If you hold a lower license type, there are still many actions you can perform.

Access the item actions menu

In the BOM () section of a project:

1. Locate the desired item.
2. Click the item actions icon to the left of the item name.

The item actions menu opens.

Note: You can also open the item actions menu from the item's detail view by selecting the more actions icon in the top-right corner.

The following list all possible item actions:

• View - Option to open the 3D Viewer for the selected item's model, DIE, or weldment files; or open the PDF Viewer for the selected item's drawing file.

• Create:

  • Item - Creates a new child item under the selected item.

  • Business processes - Creates a new investigation request, submits the selected item for release with a Change request, send the selected item for purchasing in Change notice, or create Quality Assurance or Requirements processes associated with the item.

    Note: The Send to option also enables you to create a Change request or Change notice for the item.

• Update - Only appears if the item version shown is not the latest version. This action updates the item to its latest version.

• New Version - Creates a new version of the item.

• Favorite - Select this option to mark an item as a favorite. Select Remove favorite to remove the flag.

  • Favorite items appear on your main dashboard under My Favorite Items. You can flag up to 50 items as Favorite.

• Copy - Copies the selected item to the clipboard.

• Paste - Pastes the item from the clipboard as a child of the selected item.

• Move - Moves the selected item to the clipboard.

• Remove - Removes the selected item from the BOM.

• Substitute item - Replaces the item in the BOM with the one specified in the Substitute item attribute.

• *Clear lock - This action is only available to Tenant Administrators and enables them to remove a lock from the item.

• Visualization - Includes options to compare the selected item with another item, or resend the item for 3D conversion.

• Reports - Generate an Item Details report or a BOM report.

• Import - Includes options to import CAD files and documents to be attached to the select item.

• Export - Includes options to export the select item's eBOM data to Excel, or export the selected item's CAD files, drawings, and attachments. If your Tenant Admin has enabled the tenant property enable.bulk.export then you'll also see an option for Bulk Export.
