Editing Presets when Linking Files

You can edit a preset to adjust its settings. For example, you might want to make sure Weld is on, or to include lights or views (cameras).

  • File menu > References > Manage Links > Manage Links dialog > Presets panel > Click a preset > Modify
  • Utilities panel > Utilities rollout > More button > Utilities dialog > File Link Manager > Manage Links dialog > Presets panel > Click a preset > Modify
  1. On the Presets panel of the File Link Manager, choose a named preset.
  2. Click Modify.

    3ds Max opens either the File Link Settings: DWG Files dialog or the File Link Settings: FBX Files dialog, depending on which preset type you highlighted.

  3. Change the settings on the dialog, then click Save.
