Issue:
When opening, saving, plotting, purging, switching between layouts, and otherwise working in drawings in Civil 3D (or in any version of AutoCAD that has the Civil 3D Object Enabler installed), the program hangs and takes several minutes to finish a command or process before the program responds again for normal input.
Solution:
It is recommended to install the following software updates as they contain major performance improvements in various areas:
Notes:
- Make sure that everyone working on the same drawings have the update installed.
- In some occasions, the drawing's open performance gains only occur after the drawing is saved in version 2022.1.
- Sometimes, a reset of Civil 3D settings is also needed -> How to reset Civil 3D to default.
- If the issue occurs with specific drawings, try to delete all the Data Shortcuts used in the drawing and add them to the new drawing. This might fix the circular references.
