ROTATE (Command)

Rotate objects in your drawing around a specified base point.

To determine the angle of rotation, you can choose points using in the drawing or specify a reference angle to align to an absolute angle.

To rotate an object

  1. Click ROTATE. alt
  2. Select the object to rotate.
  3. Click to specify the base point for the rotation.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Click in the drawing area to specify the angle of rotation
    • Click Reference in the command options Choosing Reference allows you define an imaginary line that represents zero degrees.

After you click Reference in the command options:

  1. Specify the first reference point.
  2. Specify the second reference point. This determines an imaginary line that will be rotated to a new angle.
  3. Specify the new rotation angle. The value that you enter for the new angle is an absolute angle, not a relative value. Alternatively, if you specify a point, the reference angle will be rotated to that point.
