How to enter a command on the command line.

Enter a Command on the Command Line

  1. Enter the command using one of the following options:
    • In the Command prompt text box, type the full command name and press Enter or Spacebar.
    • If automatic command completion is turned on, start typing the command. Press Enter when the correct command is highlighted in the command text area.
    • Enter the command alias (a shorter, alternate name that is stored in the .pgp file) and press Enter.
  2. Respond to any additional prompts and options using one of the following methods:
    • To select the default option, displayed in brackets, press Enter.
    • To respond to a prompt, enter a value or click a location in the drawing.
    • To specify a prompt option, type the capitalized, highlighted letters in the prompt list and press Enter.
    • To select a prompt option, click the prompt.

Reuse a Recently Used Command

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click within the command line and press the Up or Down Arrow key to cycle through commands you have entered.
    • Click the Recent Commands button to the left of the command text box.
    • Right-click the command line and select Recent Commands.
    • Right-click the drawing area and select a command from the Recent Input list.
  2. Click the command that you want to use.

    The command is reinitiated.

Repeat a Command

Use one of these methods:

  • With the cursor in the Command prompt text box, press Enter or the Spacebar after the command is complete.
  • Enter multiple in front of the command.

    For example, enter multiple circle to be prompted for additional circles.

  • Right-click anywhere. (This behavior is set on the User Preferences tab of the Options dialog box.)

Complete a Command Entry

To accept an entered value or complete a command, do one of the following:

  • Press Enter.
  • Press the Spacebar.
  • Right-click and select Enter or just right-click (depending on right-click behavior settings).
  • Note: The instructions in Help assume this step and do not specifically instruct you to complete each entry.

Cancel a Command

  • Press Esc.
