About Analyzing the Curvature of NURBS Surfaces

Displays a color gradient onto surfaces to evaluate areas of high, low and Gaussian curvature.

The color gradient allows you to visualize Gaussian, minimum, maximum, and mean U and V surface curvature. The colors indicate the curvature:

  • Green. Maximum curvature, positive Gaussian value (bowl-shaped)
  • Blue. Minimum curvature, megative Gaussian value (saddle-shaped)
  • Red. Mean curvature, zero Gaussian value (flat in at least one direction, including planes, cylinders, and cones)

The curvature analysis tool ensures that your model stays within a specified range.

Note: Analysis tools only work in the 3D visual styles; they will not work in 2D.
