Use this method to add an object, dimension, block, hatch, fill, raster image, xref, table, or (if available) 3D properties to a tool palette.
- If the Tool Palettes window is not open, click
. Find
- Select the object you want to convert to a tool. Then, click the image again (avoid selecting a grip) and drag it to a tool palette.
A black bar on the palette indicates the placement.
- Reorder the placement of the tool by dragging it to the desired location.
- Right-click the tool to display a menu. Choose the Properties option from the menu to specify properties such as its layer or rotation.
- As you drag an object onto a tool palette, you can switch to a different tab by hovering over the tab for a few seconds.
- On the tool palette, you can press Ctrl while dragging to create a copy of the tool. This is useful if you want to create similar tools with different property settings.
