.NET Connections can be made available in Revit.
Currently Advance Steel connections are available in Revit under the Steel Connections add-in. Any third party Advance Steel connections require the Steel Connections add-in to be installed in order to be available in Revit.
After creating a connection and
making it available in Advance Steel (under AutoCAD), additional steps need to be taken to make it available in Revit.
- Create a resources dll with images needed for display in Revit.
- Edit the AstorRules database for the Steel Connections add-in.
- Edit the SteelConnectionsData.xml file.
- Install all necessary files in the correct locations.
The Steel Connections add-in supports 4 languages and there are separate AstorRules databases and SteelConnectionsData.xml files for each language. Therefore, the instructions for editing the database and the xml file below need to be repeated for the files under each language folder for Revit Steel Connections. The default location for these files is under C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit Steel Connections 2017. The language folders available are:
- de-DE - German (Germany)
- en-US - English (United States)
- fr-FR - French (France)
- pl-PL - Polish (Poland)
Each folder contains a SteelConnectionsData.xml file which contains information about steel connections available in Revit, and all the AS database tables.
