    IGES file format reference

Initial Graphics Exchange Specification (IGES) is a neutral file format. This format enables different systems to transfer data without the need of a specific translator on each system. Alias uses IGES version 5.3.

The basic file structure of IGES contains five sections:

    • Start (S) section
    • Global (G) section
    • Directory (D) section
    • Parameter (P) Data Section
    • Termination (T) Section.
