What's New in Alias 2025

This version of Alias builds on our previous user experience improvements and provides new features for more efficient workflows and flexible customization. For technical details including What's Fixed, see the Alias Release Notes.

Light Lister - A new Delete All option in the Light Lister lets you delete all the lights in your scene. Click the Delete All icon in the lister icon bar or select the option from the Light Lister More menu. We've also added Save Selected As and Import Light options to the More menu (see Light Lister).

Variant Lister Performance Improvements - We have improved the performance when switching between Variants in the Variant Lister. These improvements are most notable if your files use Layer Categories and Layer Visibility for variants.

Cleanup Tool - We've added Delete Construction History and Zero Transforms options to the Cleanup tool.

Shader Library - A new progress bar now indicates the status of your Shader Library being loaded.

Shader Lister - A new Show Preview option in the editor's Settings menu now lets you turn off the shader preview.

Curvature Evaluation Diagnostic Shader - The Curvature Color Scale values are now incremented by a value of 0.001, which is the same as Alias 2023.1.

Transform CV - You can now assign the Ctrl + Space hotkey to open the Transform CV control window. To do this, open the Hotkey Editor and go to Special > Generally Useful Functions > Open Tool Window.

Assign Shaders - You can now assign a hotkey to the Assign Current Shader command. To do this, open the Hotkey Editor (Preferences > Hotkeys/Menus Editor) and go to Special > Shader Lister Functions > Shader Lister: Assign Current.

2025 Additional Enhancements

Feature Modifier - The Feature Modifier tool now includes a new Mirror option. This option lets you mirror the source reference geometry, which changes the direction of the geometry on the target. Use this option in combination with Flip Side to achieve the desired orientation. Also, the diagnostic shader and hardware shader assignments are now passed from the source to the output geometry. See Feature Modifier.

Export Construction Presets - A new Export Construction Presets option lets you save your constructions presets to a .json, which you can then use for setting up site-wide construction options. Access this option from the Utilities menu.

Curve Curvature Locator - We've improved how minimum and maximum curvature and radius is computed and displayed in the curvature comb.
