Duplicate Mirror
Creates a symmetrical copy of objects across an axis plane.
Mirror Options
Mirror Type
Duplicate – Lets you pick a branch as the source branch. The tool duplicates the branch and mirrors its nodes on the new branch.
Reshape – Lets you pick an existing branch as the destination (rather than have the tool create it). Geometries are not mirrored for this option.
Mirror Across
Mirror provides three mirroring planes under world space. This option specifies the plane to use for later mirror operations: XY, YZ or XZ mirroring plane.
Merge Subdivs
Turn on to merge the source and duplicate subdivision bodies when symmetrical copies are made. For best results, ensure the source object is on the symmetry plane as the tool merges the CVs that are aligned to the symmetry plane.
Keep Surface Normals
Off - This is the behavior from pre-2022 versions of Alias.
The resulting UV directions allow for mirrored behavior when using Transform CV > Slide on both surfaces.
The disadvantage is that the geometric normals are flipped. These can be modified later using Set Geometric Surface Orientation.
On - This is the behavior introduced in Alias 2023 (if the default setting of Swap UV is used in 2024.1).
This maintains the geometric normal direction, which is often preferred for exporting geometry. However, using Transform CV > Slide does not produce mirrored results on the two surfaces.
