Increment and Save Updates

New Incremental File

A new Incremental File option lets you save only an incremental file or save both an incremental file and your current working file. When you select Add Current File, an incremental file is saved according to the Location and Naming options, while your current file retains its original name. This is useful when you want to save incremental files without changing the name of the currently loaded file.

Additional Updates

We've made the following additional UI updates to Increment and Save:

  • To add an item to your file name, you can now click the + icon. Before this update, new items were added by clicking Add New Entry.
  • An improved preview now uses color underlines to correspond to line items.
  • We've added "YY" and the underscore "_" as selectable options when creating your file naming conventions.

For more information, see Increment and Save.

Other UI Improvements

  • When the Tool Palette is in the vertical position, right-clicking a tool group now displays the tools at the cursor position. This reduces mouse travel and restores this functionality to pre-Alias 2024 behavior.

  • A new List Mode Displays Short Name preference lets you choose to display tools by their short name when the Tool palette is in list mode. Access the preference from the Windows section of the General Preferences.

  • You can now close a docked window using a hotkey or menu item when Auto Hide is turned on.

  • Auto Hide functionality now works with all windows and editors, including groups, when they are docked to the sides, top, or bottom of the viewport.

  • For Layers Preferences, when you set the Modeling Layers Mode to Both, the long menu displays when right-clicking on either the layer number or layer name. In previous versions, the short menu displays when you right-click the layer number.

  • We've improved UI consistency across editors, including rollover displays, selection highlighting, and text editing highlights for naming lights, shaders, and variants.

  • You can now toggle the display of floating docked windows by pressing Ctrl + Spacebar.

  • The new Full Screen mode covers now the entire screen. When in Full Screen mode, the Windows taskbar is no longer visible.

  • We've refreshed some Selection Set Lister icons. Exclusive members of a set now display this icon , and Inclusive members this icon . To remove an object from a set, click this icon .

  • Marking Menu Editor: You can now create pullout groups by dragging tools onto existing Marking Menu items. Add more tools to the pullout by dragging them onto the new group. Set the Style option to Icon Only when creating pullout groups; otherwise, the existing item is replaced with the new tool (see Add pullout groups to a marking menu).

  • RMB click-and-hold behavior has been restored to the Layer Bar context menu and to the Layer Bar and Object Lister layer color pickers. For example, after RMB-clicking to access the context menu, holding the RMB and dragging across other layers keeps the menu open, allowing quick assignment of objects to layers without reopening the menu

After RMB-clicking to access the layer color picker, holding the RMB and dragging across the color palette activates the color for selection. Release the RMB to assign the color.
