- In the mechanical browser, right-click the drawing name (root node), and select New
Component.
- Press ENTER to accept the default component name or enter a new name.
- Press ENTER to accept the default component view name or enter a different name. Note:
The default component view names are set up in the AM:Structure tab of the Options dialog box.
- In model space, select the objects you want to add to the new component view and press ENTER, or press ENTER (without selecting anything) to create an empty component view. Tip:
- To select an elemental geometry, continue clicking the object until you see the name of the geometry in the tooltip window.
- To select a folder, continue clicking an object that belongs to the folder, until you see its name in the tooltip window.
- In model space, click to set the base point for the component view. A new component is created and displayed in the browser, directly under the root. Note:
- If you want to restructure the new component as a part of an existing assembly, in the mechanical browser, drag the newly created component view node on to the corresponding component view of the assembly you are nesting it under
- Standard part views, standard features, shaft component views, component views in annotation views, and component views in AMDETAIL views are invalid selections for assembly components.
- The instructions on this page assume that the settings on the AM:Structure tab of the Options dialog box are at their default values. Please see the Configuration and Setup Guide on how to change these settings.
