FEA 2D - Displacements Dialog Box (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

The FEA 2D - Displacements dialog box is used to enter the scale factor for the graphic representation of the deformations.

When creating a deformed mesh, the FEA routine copies the base mesh into the AM_FEA-AM_2 layer. However, this copy has the individual nodes pushed in directions corresponding to the force. These deformations usually have very small values. To have a better overview of the effect of the forces and supports, the FEA routine multiplies the deformation values by the increase coefficient. The increase coefficient can be set manually. If you let FEA set it for you, by selecting automatic, FEA considers the maximum deformation to be equal to the average mesh width.

The deformed mesh is displayed as result.

The principles of the Influence of refining described under Special information about stress do not occur in a deformed mesh.
