Frequently Asked Questions about Handover

Find the answers to the most frequently asked questions about Handover.

Can I include any type of file in a handover package?

You can add any files stored in the Files tool to a handover package. This includes CAD files, PDFs, images, videos, and more. See the list of supported file types in the Files tool.

Also, Handover exports PDF reports of project data such as Forms, RFIs, and Issues directly. You don't need to take extra steps to export these project items into PDFs first. Handover does the work and packages them with other files in a ZIP file.

Why does Handover export my project data into a ZIP file?

Handover exports your project data into a ZIP file to create a reliable storage system. Some advantages of the ZIP file include:

  • A ZIP file can handle large volumes of different file types. Large PDF files with thousands of pages can fail to generate. If they generate, they may fail to open because of their size.

  • A ZIP file preserves your original file formats. You can share other file types or information that can't be included in a PDF file.

  • The ZIP file from Handover includes a PDF with a table of contents with local links. The table of contents matches your setup from the Handover tool. It contains links to the respective local files. So you can click a link in the table of contents and the specific file opens on your computer, allowing you to quickly access related files.
