Opens an existing drawing file.
Find
The Select File dialog box (a standard file selection dialog box) is displayed by default.
When FILEDIA is set to 0 (zero), OPEN displays a Command prompt.
You can open and load a portion of a drawing, including geometry on a specific view or layer. In the Select File dialog box, click the arrow next to Open and choose Partial Open or Partial Open Read-Only to display the Partial Open dialog box. (Not applicable to AutoCAD LT.)
Note: If the drawing you open contains macros, the AutoCAD Macro Virus Protection dialog box is displayed. (Not applicable to AutoCAD LT.)
Support File Locations
Locations of the support files for the drawing being opened are based on if the drawing is stored in an Autodesk Docs project using Connected support files.
- Drawing opened from an Autodesk Docs project using Connected support files - Support files for the drawing are obtained from the paths defined under Project Settings, then My Settings and Classic AutoCAD Settings in the Options dialog box.
- Not open from an Autodesk Docs project or project has not been set up for Connected support files - Support files for the drawing are obtained from the current AutoCAD user profile in the Options dialog box.
