About Adjusting MS Excel Form

Note: This topic is for Roombook users only.

Predefined Form

  • Roombook calculations can be exported into a predefined MS Excel form.
  • The output forms are available as MS Excel templates (*.xlt).
  • The resulted form is saved after output process as an MS Excel worksheet (*.xls or *.xlsx).

Directory Structure

Depending on the current standard set in Calculation Options, the template file is located in a clearly specified directory. By default, the *.xlt templates are located in directory \Roombook Templates\International or \VOB of the default AutoCAD Template path.

In addition to the Roombook data in the International export form, the German VOB form includes also the specific VOB information. Each calculation standard (international or VOB) requires its specific export form.

Individual Adjustment

The Roombook output files are a kind of container in which the evaluation data is written according to cell relations and keywords. If the internal structure of the output form is changed prior to output process, it is not possible to perform evaluations.

At the beginning of each page there is a sector (lines 1 with 5) which can be adjusted individually. You can add, delete, or modify texts or graphics. Changes in this section can already be done before the export process. In this way, you can predefine different export forms for different drawings (office standards) and need not to adjust each form separately after each output. Header and footer can also be adjusted individually.

After this section (rows 6 to infinite) must not be applied any changes prior to export process:
  • Do not change any texts, cell headers.
  • Do not delete or add any columns (A, B, ...).
  • Do not delete or add any rows (1,2, ...).
  • Do not delete or add any tabs at the bottom of the worksheet.
  • Do not write any texts in any cells of rows 6 to infinite.

Changes which are done prior to export process, may destroy the internal structure of the form and may make the export process impossible.

Notes

  • Make sure that individual forms are always saved under an own name and that you do not overwrite the standard forms.
  • The predefined *.xlt-templates can be copied, modified and saved under a new name. Important is that the adjusted *.xlt-files are always located in the right directory and that the internal structure is not destroyed.
  • The predefined output form contains several tabs. Do not delete any tabs from the xlt files prior to export process. If any tabs are missing, the export process cannot be performed.
  • Do not use the following special characters in file names: ' = \ | : ; " < > , / ?
