Overview of the Parts Editor User Interface

  1. You can open the Parts Editor from within Autodesk InfraWorks.
  2. In InfraWorks, click the green Drainage icon, then click the design drainage icon.
  3. Parts editor is an available tool.
  4. Click the Parts Editor icon.
  5. The Parts Editor opens in a new window, and displays any recent files you have worked on.
  6. Click through the options on the left side of the Parts Editor, under the Catalog tab.
  7. Open my parts lib is the simplest way to start using the Parts Editor.
  8. You can work with default catalogs for the drainage structures or piping domain.
  9. Each Domain has several built-in catalogs for compliance with different standards and units.
  10. Click Open to open any selected catalog.
  11. Open by Model allows you to open and modify parts catalogs associated with specific InfraWorks models.
  12. You can scroll through a list of recently-opened models.
  13. Click Other Models to select a different InfraWorks model from your local system.
  14. You can select an InfraWorks model in .SQLITE format.
  15. If you don't want to open a catalog from a specific InfraWorks model, click Cancel.
  16. Use the Open by File option to edit a Parts Catalog on your local system.
  17. As a best practice, include the units of measurement in the title of your catalog files.
  18. Parts Editor supports catalog files in .ICBT format.
  19. Click New to create a new Parts Editor catalog.
  20. When you create a new catalog, you must initially choose whether it belongs to the Drainage Structure or Piping domain.
  21. Then click Create.
  22. Parts Editor also supports importing pressure pipe catalogs from Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  23. You can import pressure pipe catalogs in .PSPC, .PSPX, or .PCAT file format.
  24. The help tab provides you with additional learning resources.
  25. Click to view help content.
  26. When you open a Catalog from the Catalog tab, Parts Editor will warn you if a draft catalog already exists.
  27. Be mindful here. If you overwrite your draft catalog, you can lose edits.
  28. Now that a catalog is open, Parts Editor switches your display to the Parts tab.
  29. The Navigation Panel for the drainage structure domain shows a list of Part Families and Assemblies.
  30. The Overview section displays thumbnail previews of all parts and assemblies in the catalog.
  31. You can click the Export to Excel icon at anytime to send sizing tables for your selection to Microsoft Excel as .XLSX files.
  32. Use the view settings icons in the bottom-right corner of the Parts Editor to switch between tile or list view.
  33. When you have finished modifying parts families and assemblies, click the Publish tab.
  34. You can publish your catalogs to Autodesk InfraWorks or Autodesk Civil 3D.
