About Environments Using Design Collaboration and Collaboration for Civil 3D

There are three types of environments for using Collaboration for Civil 3D.

Low-trust environment (controlled sharing)

  • Teams have no access to each other's work-in-progress DWGs.
  • XREF other teams' DWGs from consumed packages.
  • Each team uses an independent data shortcut working folder.
  • DREF other teams' Civil 3D objects from consumed packages.
  • Teams control which version they consume.

Medium-trust environment (controlled sharing)

  • Teams have no access to each other's work-in-progress DWGs.
  • XREF other teams' DWGs from shared packages.
  • Each team uses an independent data shortcut working folder.
  • DREF other teams' Civil 3D objects from shared packages.

High-trust environment (uncontrolled sharing)

  • Teams have access to each other's work-in-progress DWGs.
  • XREF other teams' DWGs from their working folder.
  • Each team uses an independent data shortcut working folder.
  • DREF other teams' Civil 3D objects from their working folder.
  • View permissions in Autodesk Docs can prevent one team from editing another team's DWGs.
