Compare the differences between the legacy IFCImport command and the Import from IFC tool.
- All objects are imported as either Civil 3D objects or AutoCAD meshes/3D solids. IFC 4.3 Extension for Civil 3D does not create AEC objects such as AEC_SLAB or AEC_WALLS.
- Import from IFC tool (IFCInfraImport command) objects import to the current drawing. IFCImport created multiple new drawings.
- Imported objects are not placed in blocks. For example, an imported corridor will result in multiple solids, surfaces and feature lines.
- Performance improvements, though the Import from IFC tool (IFCInfraImport command) does not provide a progress bar.
- IFC 4.3 Extension for Civil 3D focuses on geometry and property set data, so materials and colors are not fully supported.
- IFC 4.3 Extension for Civil 3D supports a small subset of 2x3 geometry. The following example of a car park IFC 2x3 coordination view exported from Revit.
