To Convert Surfaces That Enclose a Volume to a 3D Solid

  1. Click Surface tabEdit panelSculpt. Find
  2. Select one or more surfaces that completely enclose a volume.

There must be no gaps between the surfaces. A 3D solid object is created.

Troubleshooting

In some cases, an error message results when you try to convert surfaces and meshes to a 3D solid. The following suggestions may be able to resolve the issue:

  • Surfaces might not completely enclose a volume. If you extend the enclosing surfaces through and past the other surfaces, this can reduce the chance of a small gap.
  • Meshes edited using gizmos can sometimes have gaps between the faces. In some cases, you can close these gaps by first smoothing the mesh object.
  • If you have modified a mesh object so that one or more faces intersect faces in the same object, you cannot convert it to a 3D solid.
