Best Practices: Save Views to Docs

Saved Views act as a shortcut to a group of models, typically aligning with a project location, which can be shared across project team members to aid in multidisciplinary coordination activities after clash issues have been resolved. Saved views are most effective when models include color to make them easier to read. Filters can be saved to a view.

Project administrators, and project members with Edit or Manage permissions on coordination space folders, can publish views of aggregated models for use in the field. Filters are maintained as part of the publishing process. New files are created based on the views of the aggregated models, including any filtering, and saved to Docs. As model quality improves, these view snapshots of aggregated models are useful for mobile viewing and downstream workflows. Keep in mind that saved views are a snapshot in time and are not automatically updated. When you create and save view to Autodesk Docs, there is not a direct relationship with the coordination space.

When saving a view of aggregated models, there are two privacy statuses. Public views are viewable by all project members in the coordination space. Private views are only viewable by the creator and project administrators. Private views are useful when sharing information with subcontractors.

Note: Project members can only save their own views of aggregated models to Docs. Project administrators can save any public view to Docs.
