Fab Viewer

In CADmep, use the Fab Viewer to view and investigate fabrication parts and models.

To view parts or models in the Fab Viewer:

  1. Select the part or parts of the model that you want to display in the Fab Viewer.
    Note: When selecting parts to view in the Fab Viewer, hold the CTRL key to select parts contained within an Xref.
  2. Once parts are selected, do one of the following:
    • At the command line, type FABVIEWER.
    • In the CADmep toolbar, click the Fab Viewer button .

      The Fab Viewer button is located on the View Tools menu in the CADmep toolbar.

  3. Press Enter.

    The Fab Viewer window opens with the selected parts displayed in the Fab Viewer.

In the Fab Viewer, you can:

  • Left-click on the mouse button to orbit the selected part(s) around a central point.
  • Click the button on the Fab Viewer toolbar to display a list of Fab Viewer commands.
  • Right-click in the Fab Viewer to display the Fab Viewer right-click menu which provides a variety of options.
  • Use the commands available from the viewer toolbars. See 3D Viewer Toolbars.
  • Use the Color By Options.
  • Type in the EXPORT3D command to export the model to alternative file formats. For example, a model can be saved as DWF/DWFX for use in Navisworks.
