Create Master Content
Before starting the Dolby Vision process, you typically create an HDR master. The goal of the Dolby Vision process is then to produce metadata that will help this HDR master to be reproduced as well as possible on displays with lower capabilities.
Make sure the content is correctly tagged. Content cannot be tagged “Unknown”. By having your content properly tagged with the right colour space you ensure that the following steps in the HDR mastering will go smoothly.
Scopes HDR Presets
To help validate your HDR work, there is a scopes preset named HDR available for HDR monitoring. This uses two HDR widgets that are available for use in your own scopes presets:
Dolby CtCP vectorscope: Displaying colours in absolute units, the chroma axes from Dolby's ICtCp colour space (also part of Rec.2100). This space was specifically developed for HDR video applications.
PQ waveform: Displays the luminance of a video signal in units of nits, with the vertical axis scaled with the SMPTE ST-2084 PQ function. For each Waveforms, you can select between the following modes: Red, Green, Blue, RGB, RGB Parade, Luminance - Colours and Luminance - Mono, and can set the signal intensity, from the Preset Widgets tab of the Scopes Settings.
These scopes require the media to be tagged with the right colour space.
