Media Import Improvements (What's New in 2024)

Updated support for BMD RAW, RED R3D. Updated Sony RAW support includes the VENICE 2 camera and its new resolutions.

Blackmagic Design RAW

BMD RAW import updated to support BMD RAW 2.3. It includes the following improvements:

  • Support for Fujifilm GFX100 and GFX100S Blackmagic RAW clips captured by Blackmagic Video Assist.
  • Support for Panasonic Lumix GH5S, BS1H, and BGH1 Blackmagic RAW clips captured by Blackmagic Video Assist.
  • Improves Blackmagic RAW recording from the SIGMA fp and fp L.
  • General performance and stability improvements.

RED R3D

RED R3D import updated to support RED SDK 8.2.1. It includes the following improvements:

  • Improved IPP2 debayer with more details, improved shadows & highlights extension, and stability fixes.
  • Improved CNR Shadow Denoise.
  • Small Performance Improvement in OpenCL/Metal GPU Decode.
  • Fixed Metal half resolution CNR shadow denoise issue.
  • Fixed CUDA Helium sensor image processing issue.
  • Additional bug fixes.

Sony

The Compression information for Sony RAW & X-OCN media files is now available in MediaHub Preview Metadata.

Sony VENICE 2

Sony released in February 2022 the VENICE 2, and Flame Family supports media files (X-ONC and Apple ProRes) generated by this new camera. For more information on this camera, see Sony documentation.

Sony RAW

Sony RAW import updated to Sony SDK 4.0.0. It includes the following improvements:

  • ßßX-OCN decoding
  • ßßApple ProRes 4K (MXF)
  • ßßSupport for Colour Space metadata

These new resolutions are also available in Resolution menus throughout the application, under Sony Cameras and apply to circular and anamorphic formats.
