To size pipes and modify their slopes after adjusting a drainage network layout

After you are satisfied with the layout of a drainage network, use Size Drainage Network to adjust the diameter and slope of pipes and adjust other underground structures, based on your changes to the initial layout. This tool is especially useful after moving an outfall.

Size Drainage Network comes in two versions:

  • Size Drainage Network operates on drainage structures connected to any one network, one network at a time.

This network does not have to be associated with a component road. If it is connected to a road, Size Drainage Network will re-size the connected structures outside the geometry of the road belonging to the highlighted network, but not other networks further along the road.

  • You can use Highlight Drainage Network , Highlight Drainage Network, to see the extent of the network.

The Size Drainage Network tool available on a selected road's right click, context menu resizes drainage structures belonging to all of the networks along the road. In some cases, this extent may be more than you need to work with.

Moving Outfalls, then Re-sizing the Associated Structures

If you move an outfall to a different location than the one that Add Drainage Network determines, you should then run Size Drainage Network to adjust the network accordingly. See About Analysis-driven Design.

Note: You also need to run Size Drainage Network before running Inspect Performance, the hydraulic performance analysis tool. Inspect Performance depends on some of the calculations supplied by Size Drainage Network.
