To create an expression
To create an expression
Open the
Expression Editor based upon the desired use for the expression.
Note: The possible use for your expression is determined by how you access the Expression Editor. For example:
Objective | Open the Expression Editor |
---|---|
Filter imported data | Click Manage ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Filter an existing feature class or subset with an expression | Click Manage ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Define style rules for features in a feature class | Click Manage ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Select a feature class or subset in the model | Click ![]() ![]() ![]() |
See Use Expressions for additional ways to use expressions.
Do any of the following to build your expression:
Manually type desired properties, operators and functions directly into the Expression Area.
Select properties, operators, functions or spatial elements from the Expression Elements Menu.
Select an existing expression from My Expressions to use or modify.
Query and select valid property values from the original data source using the Values Pane.
Note: See About the Expression Editor for an overview of the different parts of the Expression Editor.
To finish your expression, click OK.
InfraWorks validates the syntax of the expression. If validation shows problems with the syntax of an expression, an error message displays possible solutions.
Note: The validation process can help prevent many errors, but does not execute expression queries against actual data.
Additional tips
Expressions that filter, search, or style geospatial features use one set of operators, functions, conditions, and options across all supported FDO providers.
For help with any expression element, see Creating Expressions - Reference.
