Demand Allocation Manager - Usage Data

Demand Usage Data Tab

The Demand Usage Data can be altered using customized Water Duty Factors and allocating demands to a specific pattern or field.

Demand Field Allocation Basis

Allocation Basis - Select between Demand Field and Demand Pattern.

  • Demand Field - Allows the assignment of the various water usage types or categories to the available demand fields associated with each demand node without regard to assigned pattern.

  • Demand Pattern - The demand pattern allocation allows the assignment of the various water usage types to match a demand pattern without regard to the demand field.

Demand Usage Data Toolbar

Append a Row - The Append a Row button is used to append a row to the usage table.

Insert a Row - The Insert a Row button is used to insert a row into the usage table.

Set Row - The Set Row button is used to specify the number of rows in the usage table.

Delete Row - The Delete Row button may be used to manually delete data corresponding to any demand class/classification field. Note that deleting a row will only remove water duty factor data associated with the classification field and not the associated secondary demand class/classification polygon.

Block Edit - The Block Edit button provides a means to simultaneously effect multiple changes to the usage table. This command allows you to select a number of rows simultaneously and enter a common value to make global changes to the usage table.

Sort Ascending - The Sort Ascending button is used to sort data in ascending order.

Sort Descending - The Sort Descending button is used to sort data in descending order.

Load - The Load button is used to bring in saved usage data.

Save - The Save button is used to save changes made to the usage date table.

Check Usage Type - The Check Usage Type button allows you to automatically generate a list of unique classes/classifications from a "Secondary" GIS layer. When the Usage Type field is already populated, click on this button to re-verify and update the listed usage types with those that are stored in the class/classification polygon coverage.

Water Duty Calculator - The Water Duty Calculator button launches the Water Duty Calculator which enables you to modify water duty factors to match a known water production value.

Edit Pattern - The Edit Pattern button launches the Pattern Editor to create a new pattern or edit and existing pattern.

Usage Data

The usage data table is used to correlate the different classification types with water duty factors and then to assign those values to the desired InfoWater Pro demand database field. Click on the Check Usage Type icon to populate the Usage Data table.

  • Usage Type - Usage type refers to the different class/classification types in the InfoWater Pro project. The values specified here relate directly to those classes/classifications assigned to a 1:Secondary polygon coverage. In the Usage data table, all the different unique land use types listed in the polygon layer are displayed so long as the Check Usage Type icon has been selected.  You may also enter values manually, however, they must correlate with known values in the GIS coverage to ensure proper allocation.

  • Water Duty - The Water Duty Factor is a function of the classification type. The values specified here will be used to apply water demands to the InfoWater Pro project during the allocation process.  Use the Water Duty Calculator button to correlate water duty factors with a known Average Day Demand (ADD). The allocation process involves multiplying the water duty factor by a composite acreage generated by the spatial intersection process. The Water Duty Developer may be a useful tool in creating these factors.

  • Demand Field - Demand fields are used internally by InfoWater Pro when running a hydraulic simulation. During the allocation process, you can dictate which results are written to which demand field.  InfoWater Pro allows for up to 10 unique demand fields per junction node. If you would like to segregate demands according to land use classifications, merely assign the demand field that shall be the recipient of the intersected demand value after the allocation process.

  • Description - A description may be entered to classify and differentiate the different classes/classifications.

Default Water Duty - Water Duty Factor to be applied if no Water Duty Factor is specified.

Default Demand Field - Demand Field to be applied if no Demand Field is specified.

Demand Pattern Allocation Basis

The Demand Pattern Allocation basis functions the same as above except the water duty and usage types are assigned to a demand pattern instead of a demand category. Demand pattern names are assigned by the usage type. Up to 30 Demand Patterns can be assigned.
