Exercise 2: Create an Industry Model Feature

Create a service point using the Electric tab. Connect the service point to the transformer you located. Check the connectivity with a workflow.

To create a service point in an industry model drawing

  1. Click Electric tab > Device panel > Attachment Device.
  2. Click Service Point.
  3. Click the location for the service point.
  4. Press Enter and then press Escape.

    Enter ends the operation and Escape exits creation mode.

To connect the service point to a transformer

  1. In the status bar at the bottom of the application window, right-click Object Snap.

    Turn on node-snapping to make sure that the features are connected properly.

  2. Click Node.
  3. Click Electric tab > Conductor panel > Add Underground Conductor.

    Use the split button for Add Underground Conductor to see the types of conductors available.

  4. Click Create Linestring Conductor.
  5. Ctrl-right-click the service point.

    Display the nodes on the service point to be sure you connect the conductor at the right place.

  6. Click Node.
  7. Click the circular node at the far right end of the service point.
  8. Click the top end of the transformer.
  9. Press Enter and then press Escape.

To check the connectivity using a workflow

  1. On the Industry Model Explorer, switch to the Workflow Explorer .
  2. Expand the Analysis item.
  3. Click Find Connected.

    This workflow traces connected features from a starting point that you specify. You can optionally specify a stop point to limit the trace.

  4. Click Execute.
  5. Click Select Start Feature.

    Specify where to start the tracing operation.

  6. Click the service point.
  7. In the Workflow Explorer, click OK.
  8. In the Tracing Result that displays, expand each item to see the names and IDs of the features that are connected to the service point.
