Many of the options in the Joint Tool settings are also available in marking menus.
Joint Tool marking menu
Access the following options by Ctrl + Shift + right-clicking anywhere in the scene when the Joint Tool is active.
Edit Joints
When selected, opens a sub-menu with the following options:
- Symmetry
- When selected, opens a sub-menu with the following options:
- Y-axis
- Turns Y-axis symmetry on.
- Z-axis
- Turns Z-axis symmetry on.
- X-axis
- Turns X-axis symmetry on.
- Off
- Turns symmetry Off. No symmetry connections are created.
Joint marking menu
Access the following options by right-clicking on a joint at any time, whether the Joint Tool is active or not.
- Edit Joints
- When selected, opens a sub-menu with the following options:
- Add
- Activates the Joint Tool and puts you in joint creation mode. This option lets you start a new joint chain or branch an existing joint chain. See Create a joint or joint chain.
- Remove
- Deletes the current joint and unites the remaining joints and bones into a single joint chain. See Remove joints. This option performs the same function as selecting Skeleton > Remove Joint from the main menu. See Remove joints.
- Insert
- Lets you add an additional joint to an existing joint chain. This option performs the same function as selecting Skeleton > Insert Joint from the main menu. See Insert Joints.
- Assume Preferred Angle
- Returns the current skeleton's joints to the angles they possessed when their preferred angles were initially set. See Skeleton > Assume Preferred Angle.
- Break Symmetry
- Lets you break multiple symmetry connections on the selected joint(s) in one operation. The
Break Symmetry option is only available when
Symmetry is enabled.
Tip: To break all symmetry connections on the entire hierarchy, right-click the root joint and select Hierarchy before selecting Break Symmetry from the joint marking menu.
- Set Preferred Angle
- Sets the current skeleton's preferred angles. See Skeleton > Set Preferred Angle.
