Tasks to set up a 3D residual stress analysis

To set up a 3D residual stress analysis, either follow the order of the buttons on the Home tab of the ribbon UI, or follow the order of the items in the Study Tasks pane. Make sure you have a 3D model, and that you select an analysis sequence that includes Fill+Pack+Warp or Cool+Fill+Pack+Warp.

You can run a 3D residual stress with the following mesh types:

  • 3d mesh 3D

and for all analysis sequences that include:

  • Fill+Pack+Warp
  • Cool+Fill+Pack+Warp.

The 3D residual stress model is selected by default.

When all the items in the Study Tasks pane have check marks against them, the analysis is ready to launch.

Setup taskAnalysis technology
Select the Molding process
Mesh the model
Check the mesh before analysis
Select an analysis sequence that includes Fill+Pack+Warp or Cool+Fill+Pack+Warp
Select a material that you have had characterized for 3D residual stress
Set an injection location
