2-Domain Tait PVT Model dialog

The modified 2-domain Tait PVT model is the model that Autodesk uses to account for material compressibility during a flow simulation. The compressibility of a material affects the volume of plastic required. Properties that determine the amount that a material compresses are pressure, volume and temperature (PVT).

See here for an explanation of the model parameters.

Plot

Click the Plot button to enter an interactive plot of the PVT model. If you selected Generic PVT data in the input dialog, you will simply see the model. If you input raw data, you will see it plotted against the model and hence examine fit quality.

New from 2021.2: you can also graphically adjust the b5 and b6 transition parameters:

1: Left-click and drag the transition line endpoint(s) to the desired location 2: Right-click anywhere on the plot and click Refit

Click the Toolbar plot button to return from the plot.

Model parameters

Each model parameter value can be viewed and overriden in the listed inputs.

The model can be set directly by changing these values and applying without clicking Fit (on this dialog or the home screen).

Alternatively, by clicking Fit, a new optimisation will execute, starting from the set values.

If you wish to freeze one or more parameters at a particular value, and fit the other parameters around them, you may check the corresponding adjacent Keep constant fixed checkbox.

Note: Changing the PVT model coefficients may invalidate the viscosity fit because it impacts the material density. On applying the changed PVT coefficients you may be warned that the viscosity fit will be deleted and you will need to refit both the PVT and viscosity models. If you do not want the PVT coefficients to be changed during the subsequent refitting, then you will need to fix all of the PVT coefficients and click either the Apply or OK buttons to save the fixed parameters. If the Apply or OK buttons are not active then it is recommended to toggle a fixed checkbox to make them active.

RMS

This is an indication of relative fit quality.
