*BVOX: BINVOX file

Load a BINVOX file to represent material solidity

a1

a:1 a*80 BINVOX file name

With this card, a BINVOX file is loaded to apply a volumetric solidity field, or volume fraction field, to powder-bed part-level analyses. This provides an efficient way to capture multiple different densities and density gradients for sparsified geometry like latticed volumes in a single file and to introduce them to the thermal and mechanical simulation, affecting process effects like introduced heat and mechanical properties like strength.

BINVOX coordinates are expected and applied as +X to the right, +Y towards the depth, and +Z as up.

The BINVOX file's resolution and the simulation voxel mesh at its finest resolution should be at least an approximate match; otherwise, density changes between adjacent bin-voxels could lead to locally exaggerated density gradients that might not present in the actual geometry.

Note: Only one BINVOX file per simulation input is permitted.
