Create an engineering project activity

Note:

This template is not currently available for Fusion Manage Extension sites.

If you need to add additional activities to your project, you must do so within the milestone activity that was created for the engineering project.

There are several ways to create or add activities to an activity milestone.

In the Quick Create window

  1. Navigate to the Engineering Project Activities workspace.

  2. Select the milestone activity where you want to create a new activity.

  3. Open the Sub Tasks tab.

  4. Click Add + and select Create New Item.

    The Quick Create dialog opens. Toggle Show all fields to show all fields in the new activity.

  5. In the Header section, fill in all fields as necessary. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk.

    1. (Optional) In the ID field, enter an alphanumeric value to identify the activity. You might consider entering a value that matches the pattern of the other activities in this milestone for consistency.
    2. In the Title field, enter a name that is used to identify the activity.
    3. (Optional) In the Description field, enter aditional information about the activity.
    4. (Optional) From the Priority drop-down, select the priority for the activity. This helps the assignees prioritize their work. 
  6. In the Assignment section, select the team that is responsible for the activity. Optionally select specific team members in the Team Members, Assignee, Additional Assignees, and Reviewer fields.

    Tip: Click Save & Next to save the current activity and open another dialog to create a new activity right away.
  7. Click Save & Close.

The activity is created in the Engineering Project Activities workspace as a sub-activity of the chosen milestone. It is assigned the ID you entered. You may edit it further to fill in additional information or change what was initially entered.

In the sub-task table

Important: This method does not create a unique activity record and therefore it does not have its own workflow. This creates an entry in the milestone activity table only that can be assigned to a team member with set start and end dates. Progress must be manually updated.
  1. Navigate to the Engineering Project Activities workspace.
  2. Select the milestone activity where you want to create a new activity.
  3. Open the Sub Tasks tab.
  4. Click Add + and select Add manual entry.
  5. In the table, enter a name for the activity.
  6. If required, adjust the start and end date. By default, the start date is the current date, and the duration is one day.
  7. Click Save.

Add an existing activity

If you already have an activity created outside the context of a milestone activity, add it here.

  1. Navigate to the Engineering Project Activities workspace.
  2. Select the milestone activity where you want to add an existing activity.
  3. Open the Sub Tasks tab.
  4. Click Add + and select Add Existing item.
  5. Select the activities that you want to add to the milestone and click Add.
  6. Click Save.
