Monitor the progress of a project
It is important to keep track of the progress of the project to ensure it stays on track.
In the main Engineering Project tab, the Header section shows the kickoff date with a visual display of the current milestone.
The squares follow a specific color coding:
- Grey - Not started
- Orange - In progress
- Red - Awaiting Gate Approval
- Green - Complete
Project Schedule
The Project Schedule section provides a more detailed view of the schedule.
The Planned Completion column is based on the chosen kickoff date and the duration of the milestone as it was specified in the project template.
The Expected Completion column is populated with the expected completion date based on the modifications you made to the schedule.
The Actual Completion column is populated when the milestone activity is marked as complete.
Actual Effort is a cumulative roll-up of the actual number of days it took to complete all activities in the milestone. This is based on the actual start and end dates.
KPIs & Status Report
The KPIs section shows key information about the project.
The Status Report column shows the status entered in the Status Report section. The letters S, R, F, and R reflect the drop-down entries made in the Schedule, Resources, Feasibility, and Risks columns respectively.
The colors indicate the status of each area.
- Dark green - Above plan
- Green - In plan
- Orange - At risk
- Red - Critical
The KPIs section also indicates what the upcoming milestone is, when that is expected to start, when the plan was last updated, any comments added when it was updated, how many days have already passed in the project, and the total effort logged so far.
Key Deliverables
The Key Deliverables section provides a mechanism for easy access to documents stored either within Fusion Manage or elsewhere that are relevant to the current project.
Your administrator should update this table to include picklists that capture data from other workspaces or pre-defined picklists.
Workflow Comments
The Workflow Comments section provides a summary of all the comments added when the project workflow is updated to another status.
Gantt chart
The Gantt tab captures status information of each activity. On the Gantt chart, part of the bar representing the total activity length is darkened to visually indicate how much progress has been made on the activity. Part of the parent milestone activity is also darkened to indicate the overall progress of the milestone.
Status
In the Status tab, the Workflow History drop-down tracks the changes made to the workflow, including moving the workflow to another state, who made the changes, and the comments added by the participants of the workflow.
Engineering Project List View
The main Engineering Project list view may be updated to show key KPIs across multiple projects. This may be helpful if you are managing multiple projects at once.
See Work with Custom Views for more information on customizing this view.
