Product lines

For users with Fusion connected sites, references to the 'Items' workspace should be the 'Components' workspace.

Product Lines represent the first level of the hierarchy to group products. As described in Chapter ‘Product Line Assignment’, the Product Lines drive automation in context of Products (e.g. Number prefix, standard milestone approvers and standard milestone durations). This is why Product Lines are more impactful than the other hierarchy levels.

Note that it is not possible to create product from the context of a Product Line, users instead have to create a product in the Products workspace and select the related Product Line in the product’s details page to connect both together. Products can still be moved to another Product Line later on – in this case, the Product will get removed from the previously selected Product Line and then added to the new one afterwards by script.

When grouping Products within Product Lines, Product Managers can easily review the timeline of the line to see when new products launch and or get withdrawn from market:

In addition, products still being in work (before status Sales) will be shown in tab New Products along with defined KPIs. This view provides an immediate view of upcoming changes to the given Product Line:
