Bill of Materials (BOM)

The Bill of Materials tab is typically set up in an Items and BOMs workspace. Each item in the workspace is a component at a given level in a BOM hierarchy (for example, part, subassembly, top-level assembly, and off-the-shelf).

An assembly item's BOM is configured in the tab by adding items to it that represent components of the assembly. These items can themselves be assemblies and therefore also have BOMs. If an item is a subassembly, you can add it to the BOMs of parent items where it is used.

The information displayed on the Bill of Materials tab depends on permissions. System properties such as item identifier and revision are viewable by everyone. Item detail properties, custom BOM properties, and roll-up properties are restricted based on permissions. These property values display as Restricted in the BOM. If one value in a roll-up is restricted, the entire roll-up displays as restricted.

Note: The Bill of Materials, Where Used, and Sourcing tabs are used to configure and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) for products managed on your Fusion Manage site. If you don't see a Bill of Materials tab, it could be your administrator didn't enable the tab for that workspace, renamed the tab, or you do not have the required permissions. If you're not sure and need help, contact your site administrator.
