Add Property Dialog Box (Properties)

Creates a custom property for a selected P&ID object or line definition.

Property name

Defines a unique name that is used to reference the property after it is created. The value entered cannot contain any spaces; use underscores to separate words.

Caution: The name assigned to a property can’t be changed once it is created. If a property’s name needs to be changed, it must be deleted first and then recreated, which results in the loss of any data assigned to that property.

Display name

Defines how the name of the property is displayed in the Data Manager or on the Properties palette. Unlike the Property Name field, the value entered can have spaces.

Type

Controls the data type the property is assigned. One of the following data types can be assigned to a property:

String
Adds a free-form text value for a property.
Numeric
Adds either a positive or negative number for a property.
Boolean
Sets a property to either true or false.
Symbol List
Controls the property values that are available in a selection list, based on the symbols associated with a class. This option is available only when more than one symbol is associated with a class.
Selection List
Defines a listing of predefined values which are used to assign a value to a property.
Acquisition
Displays the Select Data Source Dialog Box, used to select the source from which an acquiring property gets its value.
Calculated
Adds a property that's calculated from concatenating multiple properties.
