Additional Parameters (BS5950 code)

The option is used to define additional code parameters of a steel member type. It becomes accessible by pressing the More button in the Member definition - parameters dialog box.

You may define additional member parameters in the above-presented dialog box:

  • Calculation parameters - you can type values of these parameters into fields or click the icon next to the field to select a parameter value in the additional dialog box:
    • Slenderness correction factor n
    • Equivalent moment coefficients my and mz
  • Section parameters (Ae/Ag ratio)
  • Round pipes case conditions. If the Unidirectional bending of pipes option is turned on, then, for this type of section, the program determines a bending moment equal to a sum of moments operating along axis Y and Z; the resultant moment is the basis for bar design.
