Other material

Select Materials in the Job Preferences dialog and click the Modification button. Select the Other tab to access the following parameters.

Define the following:

Name

The name for the new user-defined material.

Note: You must specify the material name before you click Add.

Description

Specifies the description for the user-defined material.

Elasticity

  • Young modulus - specifies the value of Young's modulus for the user-defined material.
  • Poisson's ratio - specifies the value of Poisson's ratio for the user-defined material.
  • Shear modulus - specifies the shear modulus for the user-defined material. The modulus is used when shear deformation calculations are required.

Resistance

  • Calculation Strength - specifies the design strength for the user-defined material.
  • Reduction factor for shear - specifies the shear coefficient for the user-defined material.
Note: The shear coefficient is used in structure calculations when shear deformation calculations are required.

Others

  • Force density (unit weight) - specifies the density (unit weight) for the user-defined material.
  • Thermal Expansion Coefficient - specifies the thermal expansion coefficient for the user-defined material.
  • Damping ratio - specifies the damping ratio for the user-defined material. This ratio is used for the dynamic analysis of structures.
